Privacy & Community Rules
Leave One Thing is a space where people can leave experiences, reflections, lessons and little pieces of wisdom that might help someone else. These pages explain your privacy, what your purchase means, and the rules every note here is subject to.
Why Leave One Thing exists
Leave One Thing is a space where people can leave experiences, reflections, lessons and little pieces of wisdom that might help someone else.
Life rarely happens in isolation. Something we experience can change us — and something we learn from it may become exactly what another person needs to hear.
This isn't a place for perfect answers. It's a collection of human experiences.
Your privacy
Your privacy matters.
Leave One Thing is intentionally designed to be simple and private. You don't need to create an account or provide personal information in order to explore the collection or leave a note.
We do not ask you for:
- your name;
- your address;
- your phone number;
- a personal profile;
- or other identifying information simply to participate.
You can leave your note without attaching your identity to it.
Your note
When you purchase a digital space and submit a note, the message you choose to leave may become publicly visible as part of the Leave One Thing collection.
Please remember that anything you submit for publication can potentially be read by anyone.
Please don't include private or identifying information about yourself or another person unless you intentionally wish to make it public. In particular, don't include:
- passwords or account credentials;
- financial information;
- identification numbers;
- private contact details;
- or information that could unnecessarily identify another person.
Payments
A note on Leave One Thing is a one-time purchase of a digital space on the Leave One Thing wall. The current price is €1.50 per note. There are no subscriptions or recurring payments.
Payments are processed securely through our payment provider, Stripe.
Leave One Thing does not collect or store your card details or payment credentials. Information necessary to process and verify a transaction is handled by Stripe according to its own privacy, security and legal requirements.
What your purchase means
When you purchase a space, you receive the opportunity to place your own digital sticky note within the Leave One Thing collection. You choose a prompt, write your message and leave it behind for someone else to discover.
Your purchase also helps support the operation and development of Leave One Thing.
The intention is for this to grow into something bigger than a digital wall — something that can eventually give back and help people who have a dream, an idea or a small step they need help getting started with. One small contribution can help build something that creates opportunities for others.
Community Rules
Leave One Thing exists because we believe that something you've experienced might help someone you've never met. Please help us keep this space meaningful and welcoming.
Please do:
- share honestly;
- share experiences, lessons and perspectives;
- be respectful of people who may see things differently;
- protect other people's privacy;
- only share things you're comfortable making public;
- write something you would genuinely want another person to find.
Please don't submit:
- hate speech or discriminatory content;
- threats or encouragement of violence;
- harassment or bullying;
- deliberately abusive or harmful content;
- sexual content involving minors;
- another person's private or identifying information;
- impersonation or fraudulent content;
- spam, advertising or promotional material;
- scams or malicious content;
- content encouraging dangerous or illegal activity;
- content that you do not have the right to share.
Moderation
Not everything submitted will necessarily be published.
We may review, decline or remove content that:
- violates these Community Rules;
- creates a privacy or safety concern;
- appears fraudulent, abusive or malicious;
- infringes another person's rights;
- or is clearly unrelated to the purpose of Leave One Thing.
Honest mistakes. If you posted something by accident, submitted it too early, or made a genuine error, write to leaveonething@gmail.com within 48 hours of posting and tell us the exact time your note was left. Where it looks genuine, we may send you a private one-time link that lets you rewrite your words. It is a courtesy rather than a right, it can only be used once per note, and the category and place your note holds on the field stay the same.
Serious violations. Hate speech, harassment, threats, scams, sexual content involving minors and anything of that kind are removed immediately. No correction link is offered and no refund is given.
Contributions and removed notes
Please choose your words carefully before purchasing and submitting your note. Every submission is subject to these Community Rules.
If a note violates the rules, we may decline to publish it or remove it after publication. The removal or rejection of a note because it violates these Community Rules does not by itself create an entitlement to a refund.
The €1.50 purchase is for the digital space and participation in Leave One Thing; it is not a refundable deposit guaranteeing publication.
Nothing in these rules limits any mandatory consumer rights or other rights that cannot legally be excluded.
A note about advice
The experiences shared on Leave One Thing belong to the people who share them. They may be comforting, inspiring or thought-provoking, but they are not professional medical, psychological, financial, legal or other professional advice.
What helped one person may not be right for another.
Take what resonates. Leave what doesn't.
Your choice
You don't have to leave anything.
You can explore the collection, search for something you need to hear, and discover what other people have left behind without making a purchase.
If you choose to leave something, you're choosing to add your words to that collection. You don't need to tell your whole story. A few words can be enough.
Removing a note
Because notes are designed to be shared anonymously, please consider carefully what you submit before publishing it.
If you believe a published note contains your personal information, violates these rules, or creates a genuine privacy or safety concern, contact us at leaveonething@gmail.com. We'll review the request and take appropriate action where necessary.
If you simply want to fix your own wording, see the note about honest mistakes under Moderation above.
Changes to these rules
As Leave One Thing grows, these rules may need to evolve. If we make significant changes, we'll update this page accordingly.
